-- Advanced, long-range bar code imaging technology pioneered by Intermec and now adapted for intrinsically safe environments.

-- Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) capability is achieved through modular design that support a wide range of frequencies, from low to ultra-high LF to UHF and ISO Standard frequencies.

Hittin' the Road with RFID!

by Intermec on April 25 2012 08:23 AM - last edited on April 25 2012 08:23 AM

IMAG0199.jpg

Over the last several months, the Intermec RFID business unit and RFID partners Fluensee and NeWave have been working together to build a proof of concept solution for In-Transit Asset Visibility (ITAV).  The solution uses a standard cargo van that has been outfitted with RFID, WWLAN, GPS, and an onboard computer. We will be commencing a van tour to select prospects the east coast, starting this week!

The goal of the tour is to demonstrate the solution’s ability to use a combination of RFID and GPS on a typical delivery or service route while providing visibility of the van movement, stops and identified product drop off and/or pickup.  Prospects for the In-Transit Asset visibility solution are those organizations that move high value assets between locations on a frequent basis, using their own service vehicles, and would benefit from real-time visibility of the “chain of custody” of their assets from the time they are loaded on a service vehicle until they are dropped off at a location or returned to the dock.  Examples are Telco and cable companies, parcel delivery vehicles, document management companies, utilities, service vehicles for elevator or HVAC companies, etc.

Stay tuned for more!
