VIDEO: Intermec's Mobile Technology & World Vision
See how Intermec mobile technology helps with World Vision's humanitarian work.
This video features Last Mile Mobile Solutions (LMMS), an aid distribution system that uses web-based mobile applications to manage responses to disasters. It was developed by World Vision in collaboration with the private sector and humanitarian industry. The system enables digital registration of people affected by disasters and then automates how aid-agencies deliver humanitarian services. This results in more effective, efficient and fully accountable practices. These services are mostly focused on life-saving rations, which can include food and items like water purification kits, as well as cash based programs.
LMMS has been successfully tested and deployed in several countries since 2008, including Kenya, Lesotho, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Haiti, Zambia and Tanzania. The video footage in this documentary is from Uganda and Haiti. To-date close to half a million individuals around the world have been enrolled into various projects using LMMS.
