Industry Insight: Bar Code Printer Market Thrives

by Intermec on May 27 2011 12:29 PM - last edited on May 27 2011 12:32 PM

Be sure to take a read through this timely industry insight by Rick Morgan, editor of Scan: The Data Capture Report. He outlines how changes in the market, along with emerging applications are driving new sales of a 30+ year old technology.

Rick begins by saying, "Just when many people have begun to look at bar codes as an 'old' technology, the market has shown signs of a rebirth. In our talks with various bar code printer vendors, it has become apparent that we may have just scraped the surface of the market. As complementary technologies hit the market—like RFID—we see traditional printer manufacturers designing models that print labels and encode RFID tags at the same time. Some vendors have developed new technology that enables users to print both sides of a label at one time with a single device. Smart printers are also making big strides in the market. Bar codes are anything but old."

Indeed. You can read Rick's entire technology update here.
